Projects in Akvo

Active projects are being implemented by our field partners with help from our support partners.

Projects that Need funding have not started as the project has not secured enough funding.

Complete projects are finished projects. They are kept online and they illustrate the effectiveness of the system to our partners, providing practical information on what worked and what did not, as well as acting as a source of inspiration for new projects.

Projects which have been Cancelled for one reason or another will have information in the project update with the reason for cancelling the project. Cancelled projects do not count towards any of the other values other than Total projects in the Akvo at a glance portlet.

People who get

This section shows how many people have received or will receive water and sanitation from projects tracked in the Akvo RSR system.

Upcoming indicates the number of people getting water or sanitation from projects that are Active or Need funding.

Delivered shows the number of people who have been provided with water and sanitation from Complete projects.

Partners

This section lists the different types of partners in the Akvo RSR system. You might notice there are more partners than listed organisations. This is because some partners may assume different roles in different projects.

Funding partners pay for projects to get implemented.

Support partners are vetted by Akvo.org and are trusted partners who can bring in Field partners into the network. Support partners provide quality assurance, monitoring and evaluation for projects. They also provide training and a number of other services for field partners.

Field partners implement projects in the field. They often have a local field office and work closely with the local community.

Funding

Raised shows the amount of money committed towards Active or Complete projects.

Still needed shows the amount of money requested by projects that still Need funding.

Some project budgets are denominated in Euros and some in US Dollars, because our support and field partners create their project plans in one or the other of those particular currencies. To minimize ambiguity and fluctuations based on changes in currency exchange rates, we have elected to display projects in their original denomination.
