The existing water well is not deep enough and will be drilled deeper. In addition, the water tank and pump will be repaired.
Target benchmarks
- 1 functioning water systems
- 3000 persons with access to improved water for 30 years
The main goal is to provide the people of Garalol with safe drinking water. The rehabilitated borehole will provide sufficient water of good quality, for the whole village, for the next 30 years.
The long term goal is to reduce child mortality and improve the overall health of the villagers
Target benchmarks
- 1 functioning water systems
- 3000 persons with access to improved water for 30 years
Sustainability of the project is guaranteed by emphasising capacity building of the local people. They have ownership over the project and put in a lot of work and financial contribution.
To be able to maintain the water well properly, an estimation of exploitation costs has been made. The villagers will have to pay a little for the water they take from the well, where the tariff is different for villagers with less financial resources. The collected money will be used for the operation and maintenance of the water system.
