2009-11-12 15:48 by Jan Nederstigt, PRACTICA, via web

The planned pilot distribution of filters is still in the planning phase. ADEID and PRESCRAFT have not been able to finalize the plans of the distribution yet, so the shipment of filters from Cambodia is not expected to arrive in Cameroon before March 2010.

Prior to the business plan development, the plan now is to import a number of filter from Cambodia as to start a pilot distribution in Cameroon; Subsidised distribution of the filters should help to get a good idea of the potential market in the area. Currently, negotiations are taking place with the producer in Cambodia as well as with shippers to get the filters in Cameroon. ADEID and PRESCRAFT are working on the design of the pilot distribution, as to maximize the learning effects.

For both Beaudelin and Primus, the training was a big success. Besides hands-on training on the filter production, also attention has been paid to water filter marketing and sales. Next step will be to make a business plan that enables setting up water filter production and sales in Cameroon.

Training started

2009-05-25 14:55 by Jan Nederstigt, PRACTICA, via web

After a long trip with some trouble at the airport of Bangkok, Beaudelin (ADEID) and Primus (PRESCRAFT) finally made it to Cambodia, where they will be trained this week in the production of ceramic water filters. The training is done by staff from Resource Development International (RDI), as this organisation has an excellent production facility of ceramic water filters and has set up a training programme for enterprises that want to start ceramic water filter production. After a week of theory and hands-on training in the production, Primus and Beaudelin will return to Cameroon where they can put in practice what they have learned in Cambodia.
