How to create a new Akvo RSR project

If you are an Akvo RSR organisation administrator you can create a new project for your organisation and its partners on the Akvo web site.

1. Go to the Akvo RSR Admin pages by clicking the link at the bottom of all Akvo RSR pages called Admin.

2. If you are not logged in already, Log in now.

3. You now see the "Site administration" page. Click + Add on the Projects line.

4. The Add project page opens. Begin entering information on the project, filling in at minimum the following required fields:

  • Name
  • Subtitle
  • City
  • State
  • Country
  • Project plan summary
  • Goals overview
  • Sustainability

If you are unsure of some information, you may enter placeholder information like "To be completed later" in these fields.

5. Choose your existing partners in the Funding partners, Field partners and Support partners areas at the bottom of the page, making sure to include your own organisation. If you do not enter your own organisation as a partner, this project will not appear the next time you log in to RSR!

6. When you have entered all the required information, click the Save button at the bottom right of the page. The "Projects" page listing your organisation's projects appears, with the newly-created project at the top.


Your project has now been created in RSR, but is not yet public. You may wish to return later to further edit the project content, or have your project editors add more information before the project is published.

To preview your project in RSR:

  • note the unique project number shown in the ID column. Project IDs are whole numbers, for example, 42.
  • open a separate browser tab or window and enter the following in the URL bar, substituting your project ID where we have entered 42:
