Mark Westra is the latest addition to the Akvo team, based in our Netherlands office.

His driving question? “Where’s the search button?” for the world’s collective knowledge on water and sanitation technologies for the poor.

He’s leading the expansion of the Akvopedia, our tool to improve the sharing of knowledge needed in the field.

Diving right in at the deep end, Vinay Gupta interviewed him via Skype today from our London office. Mark explains the overall Akvo concept and (from 11 minutes in) does a deep dive into some of the challenges of connecting knowledge with the people who need it.

Watch the full interview below.

Technology tip: Vinay used a great programme called Ecamm Call Recorder for Skype. We then uploaded the footage with minimal editing to Blip.tv
